Summary | 0000191: [Meta] Align with BigEEG workflow standards
Description | The BigEEG project is developing standards and methods for large-scale EEG analysis. http://www.bigeeg.org/ [^] This issue is intended to serve as a basis of discussion and planning around the idea of supporting BigEEG standards in OpenViBE. What are some considerations and related OpenViBE components that are relevant to the BigEEG project?

By a glance at the image on the web page (took liberty to attach it), it looks like there's at least two points where connections could be made, 1) Make OpenViBE read and/or write XDF files 2) Make OpenViBE work with data having HED tags The first would allow OpenViBE to work on and to produce data compatible with the framework ('recording setup' stage; although if BigEEG already reads other file formats, it could be that data exportation from OV already works. The utility of the second option is not that clear to me without reading the proposal, i.e. what would OV signal processing get in addition to the usual eeg markers (what does data curation stage do)? Basically its also a question of use cases: what would be wished of OpenViBE? Perhaps this is also your question. One thing that OV can do in a sense is to provide alternative to the 'single study' option (on the right in the schematic figure on the bigeeg page); we can run OV classification pipelines on such data and see what kind of BCI accuracies would be reached. The users more knowledgeable with BigEEG could propose other roles OV could do. Perhaps the forum would be a better place to propose/discuss/understand these. |

> if BigEEG already reads other file formats, it could be that data exportation from OV already works. It is worth mentioning that some of the principle stakeholders behind BigEEG are also contributors to LabStreamingLayer: https://github.com/sccn/labstreaminglayer [^] |
