Temporal filter box - Band Stop filter order (Notch)

Post by valedeseta »

Hi everyone!

In my scenario, I am recording both EEG and EMG data and I want to use a notch filter to remove power-line artifacts.
I used a Temporal Filter box choosing as Filter Type: Band Stop and 48Hz and 52Hz as Low Cut-off Frequency and High Cut-off Frequency respectively.

However, when I tried to set a Filter Order higher than 30 (needed for a notch filter), OV crushed. Could someone please explain me how I can solve this problem?

Thank you in advance.
Best,

HI Valeria,
I'm not sure Butterworth Temporal Filter is optimized for HIgh FIlter, I have test with an order of 30 it works for me (crash at 33). But the filter is "stable" (fully operational) after 40s of signal, as it takes the last signals it's good if signal is constant not the case in EEG. In our case we never go over order 5.
You can test temporal filter option with the example scenario, it's a simple adition of 3 sinus frequency and some band pass/stop.
