emotiv epoc

Post by piruleiro »

Hello,
I am an openvibe new user. I would like to use it with the emotiv epoch (I've got the research edition).
But I cannot find the driver in the acquisition server...
Do I have to install an add-on? Is there a simple, ready made, scenario to show the incoming signals from the headset?

Thanks

I just read here
http://openvibe.inria.fr/documentation/ ... FAQ_Emotiv
"You need to build the driver from sources. Look here for a dedicated documentation."
But the link takes me to a page in which it's described the process for
building the WHOLE SW...
So, just for using the emotiv I need to personally build the whole SW by hand? with Visual c++ (not free, BTW)?
Sorry, but It looks like a nonsense for me...

Dear piruleiro,

Thank you for your interest in our software

Indeed for now it is necessary to build the OpenViBE software from sources if you want to use the Emotiv Epoc device. This is due to the licensing issues which we managed to resolve now and the next version of OpenViBE will not require this step.

You only need Visual Studio Express (2010 is recommended) to build the software, which is provided by Microsoft at no charge and can be downloaded here : http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/e ... pp-express

Note that building the software is a fairly straightforward process, and you will get the benefit of having the latest improvements if you choose to use the version from SVN.

Regards
Jozef
