Emotiv EPOC driver and Research SDK

Post by ilja.kuzovkin »

Hi.

Why such an constraint was set "You must have the Emotiv Research SDK (or any superior version)"
There is some technical reason for that?

Ilja.

Dear ilja,

there is no technical reason, just marketing and business. Emotiv send their SDK as an option with there device. Distributing OpenViBE precompiled against that SDK lowers the number of licences Emotiv could sell (supposing one could be interested in only using OpenViBE with their device)... So they choose not to allow us to distribute precompiled version of OpenViBE supporting their SDK. You definitely have to buy it ;)

Hope that answers the question,
Yann
