Verification of EEG signals

Post by sumitsoman »

Hi,

We had recorded EEG signals using the Actichamp System and OpenViBE Acquisition server. We would like comments on the recorded EEG signal which can be viewed in EEGLAB as to whether:
a) The signal is standard EEG or noise.
b) Can this recording be used for further analysis for the paradigm described below?

The file is uploaded at https://www.dropbox.com/sh/zmxquwumyi8h4nl/oNh2ROYIeZ

Description:

EEG signals from the following electrode positions (FC3, FC1, FCz, FC2, FC4, C5, C3, C1, Cz, C2, C4, C6, CP3, CP1, Cpz, Cp2, Cp4) were recorded while the subject was performing left and right hand clenching of fists (event markers 769 and 770 respectively). The subject was made to sit and look at a computer monitor placed at eye level, wearing a 32 channel EEG electrode cap. However on the cap only the above mentioned electrodes were fixed. EEG signals were recorded using the BrainProducts Actichamp EEG System.

Each trial started with the presentation of a fixation cross at the center of the computer screen. After 1 second the fixation cross was overlaid with an arrow at the center of the monitor for 1.25 seconds, pointing either to the right or to the left. Depending on the direction of the arrow, the subject was instructed to clinch the fist of his left or right hand. The sequence of right and left trials, as well as the duration of the breaks between consecutive trials (ranging between 1.5 and 3.5 sec.), was randomized.
