Re: Activation Paradigms for Mental Tasks based BCI
Hello, there is no already made scenario in OpenViBE to do so, but you should be able to make such scenarios relatively easily. Indeed you could adapt the Graz visualization for you purpose, or, which may be even simpler (no C++ programming to do), use the display cue image box and the Lua stimulato...

Re: Motor Imagery : atmosphere and reference
Dear Hatma, The best electrode placement for each application also depends on the subject (it is not the same for all users, although you will find a lot of similarities). For some generic set of electrodes for the different openvibe scenario, we discussed that here: http://openvibe.inria.fr/forum/v...

Re: Calculating Alpha, Beta, Delta, Theta w. Emotiv
Dear Hatma, Removing noise from EEG signals is quite a tricky problem actually. The spatial filter box is one of the tools to do so, because it enables us to define a weighted combination of sensors which contain the noise and thus can be used to remove it from the EEG signals. The question is how t...

Re: which BCI sample scenarios could be run using EMOTIV dev
handball, motor-imagery, motor-imagery-CSP: you'll need at least channels C3 and C4, and it will be much better with the surrounding ones, e.g., CP3, CP4, C6, C2, C5, C1, FC3, FC4 tie-fighter: you can do with either C3 (right hand MI), Cz (foot MI) or C4 (left MI). With surrounding electrodes it wil...

Re: Sign Change Detector
The Lua stimulator box (in the "scripting" box directory) is also a nice way to send stimulations and implement an experimental protocol in this way.

Re: which BCI sample scenarios could be run using EMOTIV dev
Dear Hatma, Basically Emotiv is not suitable to do motor imagery experiments, since it does not have any channels over the motor areas of the brain. So most likely it won't work for the handball, motor-imagery, motor-imagery-CSP and tie-fighter scenarios. However with Emotiv you have the necessary e...

Re: Electrode vs. channel
Dear Perdu, In case of what is called a monopolar montage, channels and electrodes are the same thing: each electrode gives you one signal. But it can be different if you use a different electrode montage, e.g., a bipolar montage. In such a montage, the signal you get is the difference between two e...

Re: openvibe signals with Matlab
another alternative is to convert your ".ov" files into ".gdf" files (which you can do with OpenViBE by connecting a generic stream reader to a GDF writer), and then read the gdf files in matlab using the Biosig toolbox or EEGLab.

Re: ModularEEG and motor imagery BCI
Hi Luighi, I don't know myself the modular EEG, but if you have only two bipolar channels, it will be difficult to create a multi-class (i.e., at least 3-class) motor imagery BCI. For instance, to classify left hand, right hand and foot movements you would need a minimum of 3 channels, over C3 (for ...

Re: [STICKY] Gipsa-lab OpenVibe extensions
Hi Anton, Thank you for your answer. Indeed we are using alternative sensors, not EEG, that are plugs in the amplifier as other EEG channels (there is a difference though, each of these sensors is plugged on its own reference and ground input. Do you see what I mean? I can send you a picture of it i...

Re: Gipsa-lab OpenVibe extensions
Dear Anton, Thank you very much for these extensions for OpenViBE. They are really useful! We were indeed needing the software/hardware tagging and the multi-amp version of the gUSBAmp, so really thank you! One question though: we also use with the gUSBAmp other sensors than EEG (e.g., pulse or GSR ...

Re: device for P300 Speller
I have never actually tried, but I would bet it is not possible, at least if you use the Mindset in its standard location. Indeed, the mindset from neurosky has a single electrode located in the frontal location, whereas the P300 is a signal originating from parietal and occipital locations. But may...
Re: csp
Hi Catha, There are actually different ways to compute the CSP, so I guess it depends which method was used in your matlab codes. For instance, some CSP implementations normalise the covariance matrices, some don't. Some implementations use generalized eigen value decomposition and some other use ma...

Re: ‘window manager’ button missing from the Designer’s tool
Indeed the icon used for this button is probably not very explicit, and often, I also have to hover my mouse over the different buttons to find this window manager button backgigi wrote:How can I am so blind? Maybe, the icon is a bit misleading.
Thanks a lot.

Re: No experimental setup description for BCI MI dataset
Hi Jay, If I am not wrong, these data were collected using the standard protocol designed by the Graz BCI lab, which is described in most their publications, e.g., the following one: Pfurtscheller, G. & Neuper, C. Motor Imagery and Direct Brain-Computer Communication proceedings of the IEEE, 2001, 8...
